Wildfire Academy is part of the network of over 300 Acton Academies around the world. We follow the same Learning Design (curriculum) and model that was designed by Jeff and Laura Sandefer in Austin Texas in 2009.

We are currently enrolling ages 4-14.
Since our studios are mixed age we don't organize our studios into grades. We do however have a younger "spark" studio for ages 4 to 7 but age alone isn't a factor in graduating, it's more about ensuring the child is mature enough for the next step, an elementary "ignition" studio, and a middle school "Bonfire" studio. In the next year or so, we will be offering a high-school studio.

Our studio space is located at 2303 FM 1092 Missouri City, Texas. We are inside the Freedom Center Church complex.

We believe that children learn best when working with children younger and older than themselves rather than split up into groups based solely on age. Thanks to individualized learning design, all ages of learners work together and form a tight nit tribe.
- 08
We believe every person has a calling to change the world regardless of individual ability. We create an environment for all learners to face and overcome their personal challenges on the way to their destiny. However we do not have special accommodations for the severely disabled, so we suggest applying only if your child is able to work independently.

The study of civilization (including history and geography) is accomplished through Quests. Quests are themed group projects where the real world is explored through hands on activities. Each Quest explores a specific theme over a 3 to 6 week period. Quests are multi-disciplinary tools; they weave-in several subjects within the lessons. For example during the Acton Athens Quest, we will read “The Story of the World” by Susan Wise, then talk about it in Socratic group discussions.

Maria Montessori’s philosophy is a clear inspiration for our learning model, but we are not solely a Montessori school. In addition to Montessori methods, we use the latest interactive technologies, hands on projects and the Socratic Method for discussions. Many graduates of Montessori schools find our learning model very natural to transition into.

Many different types of of families find great adventure and success at Acton academies. The most successful share a deep belief in the core values and learning model we employ. We recommend exploring our website, social media pages and reading books like Unschooling Rules by Clark Aldrich and Courage to Grow by Laura Sandefer to discover if we are the right school for you.
